Doggie Daycare

What should your dog expect at Daycare?

  • Dogs at daycare should expect to be playing all day long with their friends and be picked up before 6pm!

  • There are typically two groups of dogs, the group of large breed dogs and the group of small breed dogs. This way the small dogs don’t get harmed during vigorous playing.

  • During warm weather, the dogs are often outside for supervised play. Obstacles to run around, water and sprinklers to play in, shade to relax in, and water to drink are all present.

  • During times of inclement weather, there are two separate areas inside for dogs to relax comfortably or play.

  • New dogs are typically introduced slowly over the course of an entire day to allow them to get comfortable and not be overwhelmed. While we will work to very slowly introduce even very nervous dogs, a dog must not repeatedly fight with other dogs, otherwise doggie daycare may not be the best place for your dog to play while you’re at work.

  • If muddy from outdoor play, your friend can expect a bath before returning home.

Medical Requirements

Not a current client? Make sure to send all vaccine records to piahboarding@piah.biz to set up an account to begin boarding! Failing to fulfill requirements may result in a cancellation in your reservation.

    • The DHPP (Distemper) entire series needs completed 7 days before arriving.

    • To have an effective DHPP vaccine the initial DHPP vaccine injection needs boostered 3-4 weeks after the initial injection.

    • If you give your own vaccine, we will need to see the receipt with date purchased and the vials with serial number provided.

    • The Rabies vaccine needs given 7 days prior to boarding.

    • The Rabies vaccine cannot be purchased OTC, so medical record showing it has been given and is up to date will be needed.

    • Bordetella (kennel cough) can be given within 48 hours of boarding

    • If you give your own vaccine, we will need to see the receipt with date purchased and the vials with serial number provided.

    • If you give your own OTC flea preventative, we will need to see a receipt with date of purchase prior to boarding.

    • Credelio or Bravecto are recommended for flea/tick prevention/treatment because they also prevent mange, but an OTC like Frontline Gold can also be used.

    • We highly recommend deworming your pet once monthly if they are a regular visitor.

    • Interceptor Plus is a healthy monthly preventative that will treat all communicable worms, but OTC pyrantel treats some worms as well.

    • Male dogs over 12 months old must be neutered.

    • Unneutered adult male dogs frequently fight for dominance with other males, which is dangerous for other dogs and people trying to break up fights. For this reason, dogs at daycare cannot be unneutered.

Why are these needed?

Just like in people, when groups of animals gather, communicable diseases/parasites spread quickly. At PIAH Boarding and Daycare we want your friend to have a safe place to play. Following these requirements allows our friends to go back to their homes without any preventable communicable diseases or parasites, like fleas! Although dewormer is not required and we do everything we can to eliminate the chances of worms, using deworming is recommended to further decrease the chance of bringing home any unwanted hitchhikers!
