Dog and Cat Boarding

What should my furry friend expect during their stay?

  • Quarters are furnished with fresh bedding, drinking water, and any toys they have brought. Noise dampening devices are present on the ceiling to reduce the noise from the more anxious guests which allows for a more relaxing stay. Quarters are also cleaned at least once daily, and immediately if a mess is made.

  • While staff is present, dogs are each brought outside individually for a few minutes at least every other hour to relieve themselves.

  • During the warm months, the luxury quarters have access to enclosed outdoor kennels.

  • Boarding dogs do not play with daycare animals, this is to avoid dangerous situations from arising.

  • Your pets need not worry about missing any of their needed medications. Our staff is experienced at giving any oral or injectable medications, such as insulin, that your pets need.

Cats

  • Food will be given as directed by owners, litterboxes will be cleaned at least twice daily, and toys will be supplied within their condo. Pheromone diffusers are present to relax our friends.

  • The cat condo area is located in a quieter area, in its own room to allow for a more relaxing sleepover.

  • If there are no other feline campers, your friend can expect to roam the entire feline room freely! Notice the camper looking out the window!

Medical Requirements

Not a current client? Make sure to send all vaccine records to piahboarding@piah.biz to set up an account to begin boarding! Failing to fulfill requirements may result in a cancellation of your reservation.

Dogs

    • The DHPP (Distemper) entire series needs completed 7 days before arriving.

    • To have an effective DHPP vaccine the initial DHPP vaccine injection needs boostered 3-4 weeks after the initial injection.

    • If you give your own vaccine, we will need to see the receipt with date purchased and the vials with serial number provided.

    • The Rabies vaccine needs given 7 days prior to boarding.

    • The Rabies vaccine cannot be purchased OTC, so medical record showing it has been given and is up to date will be needed.

    • Bordetella (kennel cough) can be given within 48 hours of boarding

    • If you give your own vaccine, we will need to see the receipt with date purchased and the vials with serial number provided.

    • If you give your own OTC flea preventative, we will need to see a receipt with date of purchase prior to boarding.

    • Credelio or Bravecto are recommended for flea/tick prevention/treatment because they also prevent mange, but an OTC like Frontline Gold can also be used.

    • We recommend deworming your pet before arriving and after returning home.

    • Interceptor Plus is a healthy monthly preventative that will treat all communicable worms, but OTC pyrantel treats some worms as well.

Cats

    • The FVRCP (Distemper) entire series needs completed 7 days before arriving.

    • To have an effective FVRCP vaccine, the initial FVRCP vaccine injection needs boostered 3-4 weeks after the initial injection.

    • If you give your own OTC flea preventative, we will need to see a receipt with date of purchase prior to boarding.

    • Credelio or Bravecto are recommended for flea/tick prevention/treatment, but an OTC like Frontline Gold can also be used.

Why are these needed?

Just like in people, when groups of animals gather, communicable diseases/parasites spread quickly. At PIAH Boarding and Daycare we want your friend to have a safe place to play. Following these requirements allows our friends to go back to their homes without any preventable communicable diseases or parasites, like fleas! Although dewormer is not required and we do everything we can to eliminate the chances of worms, using deworming is recommended to further decrease the chance of bringing home any unwanted hitchhikers!

Suggested Items for the Sleepover

Furry family members do better when they have familiar things from home to help alleviate some anxiety that comes with being in an unfamiliar place. If boarding with us, we recommend that you bring the following items. If you forget something we have most of these items available, especially bedding. Be sure to clearly mark your pet's name on items coming into the facility that you want returned.

*Favorite Bed

*A piece of owner’s clothing, like an old shirt so your scent is still present

*Medications your pet requires

*Favorite toy

*Food and/or treats: Although we have food on hand, changing a pet’s diet suddenly can cause upset to the digestive tract, especially when they are already stressed from coming into an unfamiliar place. It is best if the food is pre-measured for feeding times, such as in Ziploc bags or even sealable containers so we meet your pets individual needs. Please let us know if your pet has specific dietary needs and feed times when scheduling.
